For every ounce in static weight reduction on the rim, the equivalence dynamically (while in motion) is significant (about 12.5 lbs of weight at 50mph, 24 lbs at 100mph and 36 lbs at 150mph) enabling your suspension to hold the tire against the asphalt better with greater acceleration. An anti-slip paint finish applied to the wheel rim is instrumental in preventing relative movement of the tire and rim when accelerating and braking and, consequently, improving the feeling of the ride.
